What's new in Swift Release 26 in October?

Swift Release 26 – October features the following capabilities:
The October 2026 release focuses on Physical-to-Digital Operations with IoT Sensors, Built-in End-User Payments, Flexible Navigation, and Enhanced Data Precision & UI Controls.
Read on to discover the highlights of this release and unlock new possibilities for your app automation journey.
Devices & Sensors Hub
Settings ➡️ Devices and Sensors
Integrate physical hardware, remote equipment, and environmental sensors straight into your applications with a dedicated setup and monitoring workspace:
- Flexible Connection Methods: Connect internet-ready sensors via Direct post, integrate site equipment using the Swift Gateway, or pull data from third-party Cloud providers.
- Extensive Equipment Support: Ready-made presets for tank level monitors (Otodata, Anova, Tank Utility), ultrasonic sensors, float senders, 4-20mA devices, and custom firmware endpoints.
- Live Telemetry & Diagnostics: Stream metrics (Temperature, Humidity, Level, On/Off, Battery) into your Sensor Readings table. Use Test diagnostics to verify incoming signals or generate 30 days of synthetic test data without hardware.

Native In-App Payment Control
Enable end users to submit secure payments directly within your operational forms and workflows:

- Secure Payment Integration: Connect provider accounts (like Stripe) in Settings without exposing keys on individual forms.
- Flexible Charge Types: Charge a fixed fee or dynamically pull the amount from any form field, with an optional blocker rule preventing form submission until payment clears.
- Customer Mapping & Receipts: Map existing customer name, email, and phone fields so receipts are automatically emailed by the provider.
- Post-Payment Handlers & Feedback: Display dynamic success/failure notifications using tokens (e.g., {amount}, {reference}), trigger downstream Swift Flows, and access return parameters (status, reference, amount, receipturl) inside form data.
Progress List Control
Surface multi-step workflows and live milestone progress directly from your data sources in a clear, card-based interface:
- Segmented & Continuous Progress Displays: Visualize tasks step-by-step using Stages (segmented) bars or track numeric metrics through continuous single-bar indicators.
- Dynamic Record Mapping: Map each row directly to a data source record (e.g., work orders, equipment batches, maintenance jobs) with dynamic token support like {maintenance_id} {maintenance_type}.
- Configurable Stages & Badges: Define custom process steps (such as Scheduled, In Progress, Overdue), position stage labels above or below bars, and display contextual status badges.

Highlights Control
Deliver actionable updates, alerts, and operational feeds in high-visibility preview cards:

- Versatile Use-Case Presets: Select from dedicated styles including Needs attention, Announcements, Facts and tips, Activity feed, and Alerts.
- Flexible Data Sourcing: Display static scheduled announcements or pull live items dynamically from Swift Objects, REST endpoints, databases, or workflows.
- Rich Card Content: Configure dynamic title and subtitle tokens (e.g., {vehicle_id} {document_type}), format relative dates (e.g., 4d ago), pin urgent items to the top, and set auto-hide expiration dates.
Schema Constraints, Formulas & Defaults on Swift Objects
Elevate data integrity at the foundational schema layer before data reaches your UI:
- Custom Validation Constraints: Add rule conditions with personalized error messages that trigger whenever an invalid value is submitted.
- Default Value: Assign a default value to a field through the Swift Object schema.
- Calculated Formulas: Automatically compute values for number fields based on other object attributes (such as calculating totals across IDs, quantities, and rates) without manual scripting.

Find & Browse List Buttons
Transform raw data into meaningful executive insights using an expanded suite of visual controls.

You can now place custom action buttons along the top of Find & Browse forms to directly open Entry Forms or Dashboards in popups or slider views. Position them freely, toggle their visibility across Grid or Card layouts, and enable auto-refresh so your list updates instantly the moment a user finishes an action.
Multi-Value Tag Field Enhancements
The Tag control now supports picking or barcode-scanning multiple values simultaneously, complete with an optional maximum selection limit. It also includes an inline “Add New” trigger that lets users open an Entry Form in a modal to register missing items on the fly without leaving the current screen.

Okta & Microsoft Azure SSO for JD Edwards
Swift now natively supports Okta and Microsoft Azure Single Sign-On (SSO) for JD Edwards environments. Users can log into their Swift apps using existing corporate credentials, while Swift automatically negotiates their JD Edwards session and AIS tokens in the background. This removes redundant logins, simplifies user management in Settings, and ensures enterprise security policies apply seamlessly across all Swift applications.
Wrapping Up
That concludes the October 2026 release highlights.
This release unlocks exciting new capabilities across every layer of the Swift platform. With the introduction of the Devices & Sensors Hub, Swift applications can now listen to and act on real-world telemetry. At the foundational layer, Swift Objects gain greater precision with schema-level formulas, constraints, and defaults. For form and dashboard experiences, creators can now collect transactions directly using the Payment control, track multi-stage operations with the Progress List control, surface critical alerts via Highlights, and support flexible multi-value tag inputs. On Find & Browse forms, new List Buttons transform passive data viewing into actionable operational launchpads. Backed by enterprise-grade Okta and Microsoft Azure SSO for JD Edwards, building secure, end-to-end business applications is smoother than ever.
📌 Pro Tip: In the Devices & Sensors Hub, pair an environmental sensor with a Highlights Control set to Alerts to notify operators when readings exceed normal bounds, then use a List Button on your browse grid to let them open a maintenance entry form with a single click!

How Swift provides the game-changing capability?
Most low-code, no-code platforms evolved as the next-phase of the original development tools, built a decade or two ago, and still follow the same development mindset in their DNA. Although they’ve tried their best to make them easy for the business analysts and the users, majority have fallen short.
To bring about the real paradigm shift and benefits of a low-code/no-code platform, a grounds-up rethinking was required to work at a meta-data level, and incorporate at the core of the architecture, the latest and greatest advancements in web and mobile technologies, integration, security, analytics and cloud-based server frameworks.
