So the most awaited Oracle event of the year finally kicked off in San Francisco. Here’s a look at the inaugural activities from the first day of Oracle OpenWorld.
The day started off with the welcoming smiles of the ladies at the registration desk. The place was buzzing with energy with an atmosphere tailored for people to connect.
One of the highlights of the day, The Oracle Partner Network’s Keynote Session, kicked off by Oracle President Mark Hurd. Mark highlighted top four strategies for Oracle:
- Continue to drive on Oracle’s best to breed technology offers.
- Focused on vertical integration/vertical engineering.
- Driving the cloud.
- Building out industries
The strategic value of Oracle partners was highlighted, followed by a presentation of the Oracle Excellence Awards list. Next up was a live stream from the America’s Cup where Oracle’s sailing team is in competition.
Fujitsu CEO, Noriyuki Toyoki’s Keynote, Shaping Tomorrow Through Modernization and Innovation preceded the big event of the day. Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison’s Welcome Keynote was up next. Ellison highlighted Oracle’s competitive advantage as the number one platform company in the world.
Ephlux also attending some sessions. Here are a couple that we listened to:
- Oracle WebCenter Portal: Designing for Desktop, Mobile and Tablet.
- Using Oracle SOA Suite 11g to Integrate with PeopleSoft
The latter was by an Oracle customer presenting how they used SOA to integrate PeopleSoft with their other systems.
We were present in the Oracle Partner Network Keynote. Later we caught up with Arun Tewary, Emirates Airlines’ Catering CIO, and discussed possibilities of partnerships in fusion middleware. We also attended, Fujitsu CEO, Noriyuki Toyoki’s Keynote, Shaping Tomorrow Through Modernization and Innovation. Then it was time for Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison’s Welcome Keynote which we just couldn’t miss to wrap up our day.
